May 24-28, 2008: Westby Montana Weekend Birding Tour

The Westby, Montana tour visits the prairies and wetlands of eastern Montana, visiting one of the great birding areas in the state. The trip coincides with the peak migration of warblers and shorebirds through this area. Montana Audubon Executive Director Steve Hoffman and Kingfisher Tour owner John Shipley lead this tour. June 6 - 8, 2008 Bird Festival, Billings, Montana

BuntingThe 2008 Montana Audubon Bird Festival will be held in Billings. The festival will celebrate the tremendous variety of birds that are found in the area’s stream and river bottoms, mountain forests, prairies, and wetlands. Field trips will include visits to the Pryor Mountains, Yellowstone River, Audubon's Conservation Education Center, and more. We have a great line-up of speakers and workshops. Learn more >>

June 13 - 15, 2008: Glasgow Feather Fest.

The annual bird festival in Glasgow will take place June 13 - 15 this year. Festival highlights include field trips, speakers, kids birding, a canoe trip, and a weenie roast! For more information, contact the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce at 406-228-2222 or email them at chamber@glasgowmt.net.


September 29 - October 10, 2008: Montana Audubon's Veracruz Mexico Tour

Join Montana Audubon board member, professor Jack Kirkley, on this 12-day adventure exploring and birding the varied ecological habitats in the Veracruz region of eastern Mexico. This Montana Audubon tour is scheduled to view the peak raptor migration season, when the stunning “river of raptors”—several million strong—streams through the Veracruz area. November 9 - 21, 2008: Montana Audubon's Australia Tour

LorikeetThis Australia bird tour visits the tropical rain forests of NE Australia in Queensland, and includes a boat trip to the Great Barrier Reef. This tour will be led by John Shipley of Kingfisher Bird Tours in Bozeman. For more information click HERE >>.


December 2008: Christmas Bird Count

The Christmas Bird Count is a long-standing program of Audubon, including in Montana. It is an early-winter bird census, where volunteers count every bird they see or hear during one day in a designated 15-mile diameter circle. Last year in Montana, almost 560 volunteers participated in 30 Christmas Bird Counts statewide. Learn more >>

 

February - March, 2009: Montana Audubon's Ecuador Tour

This Ecuador bird tour will find us viewing at least 50 species of tanagers, and 40 species of hummingbirds, along with antpittas, toucans, and trogons. The tour begins in Quito. This tour will be led by John Shipley of Kingfisher Bird Tours in Bozeman. For more information click HERE >> .
